I saw them in concert at the Cumberland Caverns, probably the best concert ever. I was able to talk to them after the concert, they are so very humble and amazing. Best group since the Civil Wars came along.

I am completely convinced that this is the father’s side of the Iuka story. In Iuka, the story was about two lovers trying to marry (in Iuka, so that is a loophole maybe because in this song, they’re trying to LEAVE Mississippi). Everything else fits though. The two lovers, the abusive, controlling, murderous father, noose in the maple tree…just saying. Go listen to their song Iuka.
