Synopsis:
This story, based on factual events, is set in 2005. Los Angeles has just set a record as their second wettest rainfall season since 1877. Finally on a clear day, two best friends, Glen and Antonio, who’ve both been suffering from “cabin fever”, decide to get out on a hiking trip into California’s Sierra Nevada mountains. Due to the massive amounts of erosion caused by the rains, they find a great treasure on their adventure. Glen, a typical everyman who is down on his luck, and in a strained relationship feels his prayers have been answered, while Antonio, the good-looking, successful Latino friend becomes paranoid with the findings. Their friendship is suddenly tested in this modern day film noir.

I thought this was a good idea since there was a treasure of Sierra madre so there should be a teasure of Sierra Nevadas
This was filmed on Mt. Whitny CA
That animal was a Marmit they live all over the Sierra Nevadas they are in the rodent family! About as big as muskrat grows to be 25 -30 inches
