Magical treasure hunting was a high-risk, high-reward career back in the old days of Europe. A treasure magician would gather a party of adventurous ruffians, summon a treasure-hunting spirit (usually a demon), and explore the ancient ruins of the past. But what happened when things went wrong?

Does the crown currently employ magical treasure hunters? And if not why/when did they stop

  11. @oodo2908 on January 7, 2024 at 9:13 am

People are still looking for treasure in the Philippines.

  12. @tintinisyfe2916 on January 7, 2024 at 9:13 am

Saint Christopher is also patron Saint of travelers and treasure hunter would have to travel so that could be why

I never treasure hunt with demons, but they seem to turn up on their own when I
bend over to tie my shoes or try to find my car keys.

Id love to hear how the Djinn were used for treasures hunts, also Fae people!!

When you mentioned the hag stones (with holes in them), I thought you would mention how they could see the faerie realm, and it’s believed if one was broken it would save a person’s life.

Could entities that a person summons to guard their treasure, somehow attack the summoner?

  18. @adamfils on January 7, 2024 at 9:20 am

The legend of Saint Christopher primarily involves his service of carrying people across a dangerous river, an act during which he famously carried the Christ child. This story emphasizes his role in guiding and protecting travelers rather than seeking treasures.

The association with treasure hunters might stem from a broader interpretation of his role as a guide and protector for those undertaking journeys, which can include various types of adventurers and seekers, including treasure hunters.

Just rewatching your treasure hunting with demons etc, as someone who has been brought up in the LDS (Mormon) religion, I was totally impressed with the impartial way you presented the chapter re Joseph Smith. More of this is needed.๐ŸŽ‰. Wishing you well.

Heavily reminds me of the indian horrow movie "Tumbad" where the family owns a plot of land that is overrun with weeds, trees etc but produces vast wealth due to it housing "mother earths womb", and inside it a demon called hastar that has a satchel of endless gold. Amazing film

Interesting with Conan Doyle, whose first work made Mormon’s look pretty bad. And connected them to Masonic magic. And after joining the Masonry himself, he died not too much later.

Dear saint Anthony, please come around, my car keys have gone missing and cannot be found
Oh wait.. I’m Anthony, and I haven’t had a car since the last time the police stole one from me, except for the 30 year-old Volvo 245 with a stick-shift that was parked in front of my home that the drone on his way to "work" decided to punch into the Mulberry tree in the center of my front yard with his three year-old GMC pick-up truck.

It really is impressive how many things that today would be considered "obscure" or too strange to have any sort of significance for the people of old, like the grimoares or summoning rituals actually had massive influence on entire countries. It also shows us that sometimes, we have to go into these rabbit holes to understand why certain people behaved in a certain way that would otherwise be unexplainable

  42. @2FRESH-4U on January 7, 2024 at 9:51 am

With all the knowledge and power and wealth that demons can give you they canโ€™t get you into heaven

  47. @ishmiel21 on January 7, 2024 at 9:58 am

It’s an absolute shame that Christianity has demonized, pun totally intended, the spirits so bad that they’ve all butt driven them away. These spirits are far more natural than any sort of organized religion. Organized religion is not a natural state for humanity. Organized religion is just about power. The spirits are natural and I’ve been a part of the world since the world came into existence.
