Waterbury VT Gold Trip

Waterbury VT Gold Trip

I venture to central Vermont on some bedrock and snag a couple “pickers” near day’s end. My Gold Well sluice/high banker was used for concentrate cleanup after some mercury burn off.

You found that just panning in Waterbury? I live in Waterbury and have gone a whole summer not finding that much! That was around Little River campground you say. I’ll have to try out over in that area some more. Technically little river and hills it’s on are part of the Green mountain range. The other side of the valley (the east side) is the Worcesters. Geologically they were formed at different times from different rock. Because of that you tend to not find as much gold, if any, from the greens in this part of the state. Gold Brook is Stowe flows down from the Worcesters. The best parts of the Mad River down towards Warren are the same. I’ve panned around in some of the brooks that drain Hunger Mountain and haven’t found a thing. But I have heard several times that the little river had gold in it. Looks like I need to try again.
