We didn’t strike it rich in the creek where we were camped, but we met someone who knows a ton about the pursuit of gold. Rodney was camping and hunting with his son in the spot next to us and every day he would come by to give me advice and point out some things I was doing incorrectly. I had the sluice box turned the wrong way for crying out loud.
The night before we were all planning to leave camp, Rodney’s son, Brent, blew a head gasket on his truck. I offered to drive into town and get some head gasket sealer so they didn’t have to worry about cutting their hunting trip short. When I got back we fixed up the truck (I really just observed because they had it under control) and then drove out of the woods. Rodney invited me back to his home for a warm shower and a soft bed to sleep in for the night and the next morning I got to learn how to pan for gold the proper way. It was great to have that experience and even better to have made a new friend. We’ll be going back to learn more from Rodney in about a week.
Meanwhile, Bravo and I are hanging out in the mountains of north Georgia with Jamie Dimon from Enigmatic Nomadics and helping with a crowd funded van build. There’s still a little work left before we can fire up Jamie’s bus and deliver the new van build out west. His bus might need a new turbo and there’s a lot of packing to do before we can go. Good video, glad you got some good advice. That new intro with all the special effects is kind of distracting (not horrible). Good sound tracks. They play really loud compared to the rest of the audio though.
I believe that gold hunting and fishing have similar draws for people: you are outdoors, but actively doing something, not just laying about. Both have occasional disappointments, but when successful are quite rewarding. Note: the end music was both quite loud, and quite annoying, lol.
Cool video, I always say I’m going to go rockhounding but I never do. I think that music might have given me epilepsy 😆 🤣 😂
