What a drought has uncovered about Lake Powell

Environmentalists have long cursed the day Glen Canyon was dammed and the Lake Powell reservoir was formed by flooding the landscape behind it. Thanks to alarmingly low water levels and a two-decade-long drought, that landscape now seems to be returning to its natural state not seen for more than half a century. Ben Tracy reports.

such foolish comment "mother nature is going to have to come to our rescue". In terms of weather cycles this reservoir and others in the west are brand new kids on the block, rainfall has fluctuated much over millennia, the problem is the entire scope of water resource management has assumed a steady supply, overly optimistic, from the beginning. There is no mother nature pal, God of the Bible controls the weather.

There is no drought….nor is there any such thing as climate change. LIAR’S ! They drained the lake secretly and slowly. It’s a plan for the UN Agenda to control you.

I have fought for the environment all my life. 6 decades later…they’ve done nothing to fix our polluting and anti-conservation activities. We reap what the 1% has sown. They’re the ones with all the power in the world, but they have used the Earth for their own greed. And also the religions that tell us the planet was ours for the taking. Chasing the almighty dollar and serving selfish needs.

40 million people, maybe they need to let them know it’s the desert. It’s OK to visit but to live kind of hard with a lack of reliable water supply. Lake Meade and Powell were never meant to handle that kind of pressure. Let the desert be what it is, sounds like 30 million need to consider relocation to a more habitable environment.

This has been going on for thousands of years around the world the water drys up then the population moves to another location but in today’s world we settled for the location we were given so it will eventually dry up and force people to move coz it’s a dead waste land with very little water

With all the tunnels they have built underground who’s not saying that they’re siphon all the water out and causing all these floods that’s going on around the world.

  40. Chris Porter on August 17, 2022 at 9:46 pm

The folks that run Las Vegas will not let lake mead get to dead pool. They rely too much on the hoover dam to power their city. No I’m not talking g about the mayor either. You know who I’m talking about. Draining lake Powell into lake mead is the only logical explanation. Leave the dam in place for storage purposes in the future if the water comes back. Filling lake mead is priority. Also get rid of the damn golf courses in Vegas and Phoenix. Golf courses don’t belong in the desert. Who wants to golf in 115 degree heat anyway.

The amount of water we use is crazy, I wonder how much of it is being wasted in vegas for all the hotels and casinos. Not just Vegas but everywhere else. I think greed and money has to much to do with all of this and it will continue this way until it is all gone.
