Is greenstone an indication of gold? I know where a greenstone quarry is that nobody knows about. Big chunks of greenstone everywhere
Hi Jess…I started prospecting in Placer County, CA – Foresthill 10 years ago…good gold in the CA Sierra’s endless…but moving to Alabama soon with the family. Guntersville/Ft.Payne area….any advice? I plan to dig and use my 53" sluice box once I get there and settle in our new home. Hey Jess, go info for me since I’m just starting off on looking for gold here in Alabama. I’ve got a small stream going through it so I started looking for gold, found small and larger size black sand. What about Clay county, AL
Lol first YouTube comment ever. From Chilton county in Alabama. Places people can look for gold in and around Chilton county would be: hatchet creek, mulberry fork near montevallo, small sulfer rich creeks in verbena, and the lay dam area. I have actually found grams of gold in a days work just messing around. in Chilton county the gold is usually found where the iron is leeching out of the ground in pools of brown iron rich creeks. Look for floating quarts and more than likely you’ll find limonite. Just north of clanton and just below the Shelby county line there is rich deposits of limonite there. Hope it helps other prospectors in and around the area.

Found gold in Cullman county Alabama, according to local history in 1870 on the north end of the city just off of what is now highway 31 north in the area known as the old brick yard a large gold nugget was found.
I don’t know if this is true or not,I do know that to the best of my knowledge gold has never been found in this county as far as I can tell.
There are some places close by on smith lake where pacer gold has been located in small quantities (Winston and walker counties)
You didn’t say anything about Mississippi like you said you was going to. Has every state but Mississippi got gold in creeks? What about nw Alabama. No gold at all in these creeks?
So I am not in Alabama, but I have a question. Why am I finding silver/white sand beneath the black sand in my pan?

Found gold in Blount County Alabama where I lived. Right beside the Oneonta Airport in the old coal mine. I found lots of gold dust and micro nuggets. Didn’t take anything as it wasn’t mine.
