Where to Find GOLD in Maine, NH, Quebec | SECRET Prospecting Panning Locations

ATTENDEZ-VOUS: Prospecting for gold in Quebec (panning, sluicing, dredging, etc.) is illegal without a permit and permission from landowners. Check this site for info: http://gpex.ca/index.php

Along with glacial gold, Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont and eastern townships of Quebec feature Taconic event geology, which is the hallmark for motherlode gold formations. It’s no coincidence that this geology corresponds to where gold has been found. In the economic downturn, many career professionals seem to be picking up a gold pan, to supplement income and support families. This video provides the information you need to hit the best gold areas. Panning, crevicing, cracking rock, or even small hand dredge are all ways to retrieve placer and small nugget gold out of New England streams and rivers. I prefer crevicing as that’s how I’ve found flakes! Digging two or more feet of gravel overburden has proven to be a waste of time, for me anyway. The best success I’ve had is using a long screwdriver and garden spade to crevice out the muck and clay wedged in cracks running perpendicular to the river or stream flow. Check it out people and post a comment if you have success!

I Discovered gold embedded in a white quartz vein i found on my land in lubec. I Also did some research into the vein and it runs south eastward across the southern tip of Grand Manan island NB Over to Digby NS canada. The issue is the State outlawed surface mining and only allows the removal of Gold in creeks etc.

According to Google the gold that’s present in Placer amounts throughout New Hampshire and Maine came from the glaciers that carried it from Quebec and Ontario now what is it the gold actually came from the mountains there itself pushed up and the plates or was it carried from Ontario Quebec which is it

Thanks for this video.  I haven’t been panning for a number of years, I’ve been to Byron, and NH panning with some success. I would like to check out the remote areas of Maine like you said.  I doubt many have prospected there extensively.

i got a gold claim in Qc, just north of the 3rd region, we are about 15 miles from the maine border (city is called La Patrie). There’s a Gold Museum on the road from your border, park there, the Mining Brook is full chunky gold 🙂 All the river is claimed by gold enthusiasm.

Cool video. I would like to see the western extension of this map as I am interested in the southern Vermont and western Massachusetts area. Anyone have any direct knowledge of those areas, please contact me.

I bought a home near Paris Maine that needed deep foundation repair… I’ve been finding gold flake covered quartz/iron as I’ve been digging roughly 4-7ft below grade.. Figured it was iron however after watching your video I’m curious.. Could it be gold?

I’ll say this and with all seriousness ,stay well armed boys when you are in the woods, as there are more than bear outthere things you hear of about in legends ,and I’m being serious… If you.see one give it plenty of space and just watch it,don’t try and follow or shoot at it if it’s got a interest in you you need to pack your things and you.need to leave and fast.. good luck.

Sadly I’ve long since looked into the area you marked 3. It is very remote and 15 years ago you could go there and do well, now there is no prospecting on the logging lands up there. Disturbing the stream beds will damage the trout/salmon population they say. Enforced by Wardens and Forestry Dept with no exceptions 🙁

@sebastian, that’s great! Where in south qc? It’s a pretty big area 😉
