Hi , i was hoping i could get your email i just got a V3i and could use some help. I used a DFX for a long time and thought that they would be similar but man was i wrong. I live in charleston SC and can’t imagine your soil is much different then mine (sandy).
Find the best ground filter is what I always do first. Remember swing faster with higher filers for best detection. Tx boost on and Rx gain down to just below "overload". G.B. often. Single frequency 7hrz. or 3hrz. for best depth but multifrequency for better i.d. Recovery at 45 to 65 depending on target density. Send me mail with any questions.
