Ysee.."IT", had been locked up _ sealed away..i& imprisoned, for, what may as well have been..forever.
But…I doubt it gave any more..let’s say.".thought", .to he, and his friend, "thatat had been the ones that had inadvertently released it", or deliberately causing any harm.
THEY…may have been the ones that..let it out of its prison…BUT, once that seal was broken..& that door could be moved..and it’s freedom, was at hand and within sight.. unfortunately.."they", just happened to be the ONLY thing in its path..& just..got in its way.

My grandpa used to go metal detecting on their rockhounding trips. He had found gold, silver, and all kinds of small amounts of precious metals. He learned silversmithing, and started making metal jewelry. He learned to facet the gems and stones they would find, and learned to set the faceted stones into rings he’d make from the metal he’d found. Now, they’re in their 90s and can’t go out anymore. But they both learned how to do beadwork, and my grandpa makes knapped obsidian axes and knives with beaded cactus handles. I don’t know if he ever found anything weird with the metal detector, but they did find a body once while out in New Mexico, I think. Drug deal gone wrong, from the sound of it.
This story kind of reminds me of the Unxmaal Cycle. I can’t remember the specific one, but involves the guy working at his college as a security guard.
I think finding a body part from your child would be worse. My dad knows a guy who found part of his missing son’s foot in the woods. S&R found the rest of the leg in a tree. Surprisingly enough, an old homeless man found the kid alive and tourniqueted what was left of the leg, and brought him to the police. Mountain lion.

pretty good story but I wish more creepypastas had more details at the end to add to the believably and world-building – wouldn’t the police have suspected the narrator as the cause for his friend’s disappearance? were there any reports of missing persons in the town/county/area after the thing escaped? maybe it needs a follow-up

I have a metal detector and found a box buried in a field. When I opened it I found jewelry, perfume bottles and a brush. Underneath it all was a blanket… With a sack of grayish powder in it. It was very clear to me I stumbled upon someone’s grave 💁 I left everything of course
