I find this video hilarious, because all in all, Maine is one of, if not the, safest state in the US. Honestly, I’ve been to most of these places, including Bucksport, which is beautiful, Flagstaff Lake, in which the towns of Flagstaff, Bigelow, and Dead River, are all but rotted away.

Last time I checked, a couple months ago, Maine had the lowest rate of murders, and manslaughter, then any other state. Below 20. I had looked it specifically so I could counter someone’s doubt. And had to tell them to frickin Google it like I did.

Ummm as a native of Maine i have to point out you got the leg on the Bucksport gravestone completely wrong, the woman in question was thought to be a witch & the man Buckspot was named after burned her alive even though she was his lover, betrayed her & so she haunts his grave her leg fell off when she was burned and there is also a sideways heart imprint above the leg that keeps reappearing they have changed gravestones and locations of graves but it reappears.
Theres entire pamphlets of it. Theres another version which claims she was also drowned or there was an attempt to drown her before they burned her in which her leg was chained to be weighted down. I dont remember anything about a child but i wouldn’t be surprised if that may be why he burned her fear of the child of a witch being his. This was around the time period of all the witch trials and obsessive witch hunts back in New England.
Its important to have the correct criteria to the story, the lady was suspected to be a witch, burned by her lover who Bucksport is named after. The haunting if the stone is her revenge and mark.
I’ve been a summer resident of Maine my entire life and I have never once experienced any of these things. Even still, this is a list that makes Maine seem tame.
